Flash by Danielle Destrade
I was definitely eager to learn about Flash today in class. Flash is a great example of the importance of the convergence sequence - it is literally "multimedia". Flash allows multimedia journalists to combine their knowledge from different media platforms to create media that is at once streamlined and comprehensive. Some hard-line journalists have valid criticisms of "new media", claiming that online journalism is too rushed to cover the important details and get them right. Yet applications like Flash exemplify how new media can facilitate excellent journalism. Being able to report important news through an interactive, easily navigated and visually appealing platform is an invaluable tool as a journalist today. That's why I'm looking forward to opportunities to learn more about Flash and use it in my reporting.
